The Martindale and Timm families
In the late 1800’s the previous Halfway Hotel served as the halfway point on the stage route between Newberry and Deer Park logging camps near Lake Superior.
Since that time, many families have been raised on Halfway Lake; which remains encompassed by undeveloped land and forest, making it unique in this modern time.
In 1993 the Timm family purchased Halfway Lake Resort, moving from Florida to be surrounded by nature and involved in a small and caring community. Nicole, Cheri, and Cindy grew up at the resort playing with guests, fishing, turtle hunting, star gazing and occasionally assisting Bob and Delain, their parents, with resort chores. Each of the girls left the area after high school; Nicole and Cindy eventually returning to the Upper Peninsula.
In 2010 Josh and Nicole moved to Halfway Lake Resort to raise their family and assist Delain, gradually taking on management. Josh is a native to the Upper Peninsula, born and raised in Curtis, MI. Josh also grew up on a resort; his grandparents owned and operated Gordon’s Resort, which was eventually managed by his mother.
We appreciate being able to raise our family in this beautiful setting with the opportunity to meet and learn from new people on a daily basis. We are delighted at the prospect of sharing with you the peace and serenity that Halfway Lake offers. We welcome you to feel at home while visiting Halfway Lake Resort in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
