As your host, we are so excited to have you as our guest and share our little piece of heaven with you. We dreamed of moving to the UP for many years before making it a reality in 2019. We fell in love with Halfway Lake on our first visit here in November of 2017 and we look forward to not only sharing our home with you but to offering you a quiet, family friendly environment that will allow you to relax, enjoy nature and offer you a little respite from the hectic day to day.
A little about us –
Chris grew up in Richmond, MI where he learned the love of racing cars, riding snowmobiles and pretty much anything with an engine. He attended Central Michigan University and then moved to Mooresville, North Carolina where he worked in the NASCAR industry for about 5 years. While that job was amazing, it was not conducive to family life so he accepted a position with Chrysler and returned home to Richmond, Michigan in 2010. After moving to the UP, Chris left Chrysler and is now working for Northern Wings, here in Newberry!
Julie grew up in St. Clair, Michigan where she developed a love for the fresh water beaches, camping and anything that moves fast. Julie attended Central Michigan University then moved to North Carolina with Chris and earned a job with Marriott hotels as a manager. She loved the hotel and travel industry but knew it was not conducive to family life so she stepped away to be with her children as babies. Julie is now operating the resort full time while still raising those babies who just might take over Halfway Lake a long way down the road!
Chris and Julie went to high school together then were reunited with the help of their mothers a few years after high school. It did not take long to fall in love, get engaged and then married in 2003. Our first vacation was to Newberry, MI where we camped at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. After a few years of marriage, we adopted our son Conner in 2008 then in 2014 we adopted our daughter Sophia. While we loved our hometown, in 2017 we decided it was time to pursue the next stage of our lives. We began pursuing the dream of owning a place such as Halfway Lake Cottages in early 2018 and made that dream a reality on June 13, 2019.
As owners of the resort, we take pride in providing clean, comfortable, modern cabins and to having you as our guest. Whether you are a first time guest or have been visiting as far back as you can remember, we hope that once you stay with us, you will never want to leave and will return over and over.
